We received a huge number of applications from a high calibre of Manchester students. After a two day long boot camp, ten students were chosen to take part in the 2009 programme.

How is Manchester Masters funded?
• Manchester Masters is funded by the Innovation Investment Fund (which in turn is funded by NWDA, NESTA and Manchester City Council)
Who can apply?
• Students due to graduate in 2009 from either the University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University, University of Salford, University of Bolton, University of Manchester Business School or MMU Business School.
Unfortunately, students who have graduated before 2009 cannot apply.
Please note that Manchester Masters is currently only open to gradudates who are UK or EU nationals.
Can students choose which companies they go to?
• Students will be able to request four ideal business selections from a list of those offering placements. However these will be judged on a variety of criteria to ensure each student/business benefits from the best partnerships
Can students choose which business mentor they work with?
• The rigorous approval process will highlight natural business mentor partnerships
What level of commitment will the student show?
• Students will sign a contract requiring them to complete the full programme (as would the businesses involved)
• Students will write a blog on the MM website
• Students will act as ambassadors to promote the course to graduates
Which universities are involved?
• All universities within the Manchester City Region (Greater Manchester and Cheshire)
Are there course restrictions?
• Students can apply from any type of course, ie no need to have a marketing-related qualification as we are seeking the best minds, which could come from any area
What is the application process?
• Online application form in the first instance
• 50 people then selected by judging panel
• Two day ‘boot camp’ style workshop
• Judging panel decides on the final 10
• Students are informed, either way, by post.
Do students have to complete the Masters as part of this programme?
• Completion of the Masters is an obligatory part of the Manchester Masters programme. However, the key aim of Manchester Masters is that you will get broad practical experience and therefore the majority of the learning will be in the workplace rather than the lecture theatre. Students will be assessed on the work they do while on each placement, some project work and a dissertation completed at the end.
Can students apply if they have already studied a Masters?
• Yes, as long as students are due to graduate in 2009 from one of the universities
above, they can apply as an Undergraduate or as a graduate from a Masters course.
Where do students email their video through to if they do not wish to upload it to the web as part of the interview process?
• If students do not wish to upload their application videos to the web, they can
email them through to enquiries@manchestermasters.com
Does it matter if the application video lasts longer than 30 seconds?
• Students should aim to make their videos last circa 30 seconds; videos should not
be longer than 60 seconds.
When will the 2 day workshop take place?
• The 2 day work shop will be on 7th and 8th April 2009.
